Job Title: Food Security Technical Advisory Support - USAID/Peru
Department/Location: USAID Peru / remote home based. Some travel (TBC)

Overview: USAID/Peru is seeking Technical Advisory Support to provide technical and management services to the Regional Program Office. Support will be focused on food security as it relates to health, environment, democracy and governance, education, food systems, economic growth, citizen security, among others. This position will be virtual with around five trips to the Regional Program Office in Peru. The start date is immediate.
Support includes assistance with sector assessments, program design, performance evaluations, and other components of the USAID program cycle. Providing guidance and assistance to USAID/Peru and stakeholders. This may include activity design, monitoring, or sustainability planning. Maintaining current knowledge of programmatic approaches and research on food security for knowledge transfer to USAID. Test innovative design approaches on food security, integrating gender and Social and Behavior Change as fundamental to improve Health and food systems.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Regular and relevant advice/guidance to USAID/Peru staff on food security in Peru.
- Monthly food security and market monitoring reports produced, updated, and disseminated.
- Lead the coordination, data analysis and report writing of food security and livelihoods assessment in collaboration with partners.
- Coordinate with the Food Security Cluster and FAO on any donor food security data analyses.
- Mobilizes short-term technical assistance as needed to respond to taskers related to food security and resilience.
- Provides policy recommendations, as well as strategic and tactical advice while overseeing program planning, development, and management within the food security cluster.
- Develops refinements of the USAID resilience and food security strategies based on continuous assessment and developments with the strategic objective domain.
- Determines what additional analyses, assessments, or reviews are required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Language proficiency: Level IV (Fluent) English and Spanish proficiency is required.
- A minimum of five years of progressive responsibility, preferably as a program/project manager, with development projects/activities.
- Experience managing USAID activities.
- Experience working in developing countries, preferably within Latin America.
- Experience working in a dynamic environment with U.S. government agencies, international donors, NGOs, community groups, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with key government partners.
Education: Master’s Degree in agronomy, nutrition, public health, development, economics, or related technical field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge across a range of technical issues, including nutrition, public health, food security policy/governance, food security-related education, livelihoods development, and supply chain management, and agricultural production.
- An in-depth understanding of Peru’s food security context and the Government of Peru’s food security policies.
- Demonstrated management skills; capable of executing complex tasks with minimal supervision over an extended timeline.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills.
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment. Currently the company is allowing for remote work due to COVID 19 in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. This can be updated by the company.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel: International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones.
Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
