Overview: Through the Bureau for Resilience and Food Security, USAID works with a host of partners to advance inclusive agriculture-led growth, resilience, nutrition, and water security, sanitation and hygiene initiatives in priority countries around the world to help them accelerate and protect development progress. The Bureau leads coordination of the U.S. Government's Feed the Future initiative to achieve the goals of the U.S. Government Global Food Security Strategy to reduce hunger, poverty and malnutrition. It also leads implementation of the U.S.
Government Global Water Strategy to reach more families and communities with clean water and safe sanitation. Additionally, the Bureau oversees contributions across the Agency to the
USAID Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Strategy and efforts to strengthen resilience in areas of recurrent humanitarian crisis.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
As a Technical Advisor for the RFS TAPS, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance, programmatic, and administrative support for USAID's implementation of agriculture, food security, nutrition, water, resilience, and related strategies and policies. Your role will primarily focus on ensuring subject matter expertise is available to support the work of the Bureau, Missions, and operating units while providing support in carrying out the day-to-day needs and functions of the Bureau in meeting its overall goals and objectives.
Required technical assistance services may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing technical advice as needed to RFS, on a range of technical areas as well as workforce development needs.
- Liaising and coordinating with RFS offices and personnel.
- Supporting key design and procurement planning elements of food security programs when needed.
- Reviewing workforce development needs and position descriptions, and providing advice as needed.
- Serving as an advisor to the Program Manager on RFS technical assistance and workforce development needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 15 years of experience, and at least 3 years of experience working in or with the USAID/Resilience and Food Security Bureau.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- International experience on related projects.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Education: Master’s degree in economics, international development, or related field required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior experience working with/within the USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with USAID staff, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable results oriented, flexible and problem solving skills.
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment. Currently the company is allowing for remote work due to COVID 19 in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. This can be updated by the company.

Travel: International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones.
Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.
