PROJECT SUMMARY
In FY 2014, the USAID/East Africa/Somalia Office (USAID/Somalia) worked in Somalia on stabilization, economic growth, education, youth empowerments and governance. In order to disseminate information about the progress and results of its programming with stakeholders, USAID is requesting the Monitoring and Evaluation program for Somalia (MEPS) to create and distribute some communication / outreach material.
DESIGNER POSITION DESCRIPTION
· The designer will create attractive graphic design and layout, subject for USAID/Somalia approval, that includes layouts for all the products that are to be produced under this contract. All designs must also meet USAID’s Branding and Marking guidance and be in line with the guidance in USAID’s Graphic Standards Manual (http://www.usaid.gov/branding/gsm)
· The designer will ensure that the materials are in full color, and that they include striking graphics, photographs and other visual elements; and are attractive to a wide range of USAID stakeholders.
· Make the designed materials available on a disk in a user-friendly format, for use in a website or power point presentation.
· Upon approval of artwork, designer to liaise with contracted printer until delivery of finished product to USAID.
DESIGNER POSITION REQUREMENTS
· ability to work in short time-frames;
· be creative;
· the ability to produce visually striking publications;
· proven experience in graphic design, including design and layout for similar materials;
· deep familiarity with graphics, word processing and presentation software.
· experience using standard publishing programs such as Mac-based Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXPress; and
· extensive knowledge of Kenyan publishing industry.
· Must be based in Kenya
USAID shall receive exclusive rights to all documents produced by the designer under this position.
